What They’re Saying:“Antonia has a sharp eye for style, spelling, grammar and structure. I’ve learned much from her.”Fateema Sayani,

Still, most people CAN learn how to wield the basic tools of the copy editor. They can learn how to make writing – their own, or other people’s – tighter, more active, less wordy, more precise and clear. All that’s necessary are a few basic skills, and a handful of rules.
I’ve recently begun offering a two-hour workshop that teaches up to a dozen participants how to avoid common errors, and how to “activate” written material.
After the recent workshop I held for the Ottawa branch of the Canadian
Authors Association, members offered these comments:
“I was impressed by how interesting and lively the exercises were; how Antonia made sure to include everybody; how charismatic she was as a speaker; and how she left us all wanting to know more about editing.”
– Philip Ostiguy
“The exercises I felt were most useful were finding the grammar errors, and restructuring sentences into the active voice. I thought the presentation was well-paced, given the time frame – though I’d prefer a slower pace in future! Overall, I’d rate the content as excellent.”
– Sharyn Heagle
“Thanks for the enjoyable seminar – well done! I found it very refreshing and entertaining. The session was well-received; in the time we had, you crammed in much information, and did it remarkably well.”
– Antonia McGuire
“I found the editing activities very helpful, and I think it was a good idea to have everyone participate in offering their solutions.”
– Amanda Dorion
